Joint doctoral program follow-ups

A meeting was held today, Monday, March 18, 2024 AD, for representatives of the universities targeted to implement the joint doctoral study program specializing in earth sciences in the western region in the meeting hall of the Faculty of Science, University of Tripoli, headed by Mr. Prof. Dr. Al-Mabrouk Al-Taher Busruel, coordinator of the Earth Sciences Specialization Program, and the meeting was attended by:

Mr. Dr. Khaled Muhammad Aoun, President of the University

Mr. Dr. Ramadan Al-Mabrouk Al-Jadi, Dean of the Faculty of Science, University of Tripoli, and Chairman of the Committee for Supervising Doctoral Programs in the Faculties of Science.

Mr. Dr. Saleh Saeed Al-Alawi, Vice Dean of Scientific Affairs at the University of Nalut

Mr. Dr. Hassan Al-Hussein Bouarbia, Head of the Department of Earth Sciences at Al-Marqab University

Dr.. Mahmoud Ramadan Al-Sufi, Head of the Geology Department, Faculty of Science, Gharyan University

Mr. Dr. Osama Ahmed Hilal, Head of the Geology Department at the University of Tripoli.

Prof. Dr. Al-Bahloul Al-Yaqoubi is an honorary professor in the Department of Geology

Dr.. Muftah Ali Abu Aisha, coordinator of the Graduate Studies Committee in the Department of Geophysics

Dr.. Tariq Hamid Al-Mazoghi is a faculty member in the Geology Department at the University of Tripoli.

This is to follow up on the preparation and coordination steps for starting the joint doctoral program in the Western Region.

The general framework of the doctoral program and the role of faculty members specializing in earth sciences for the success of this program in the colleges of science in the Western Region were discussed.

The meeting was opened by Mr. Prof. Dr. Al-Mabrouk Busruel delivered a speech in which he welcomed the attendees and congratulated them on the advent of the holy month, explaining the reasons for the localization of postgraduate studies at home and stressing that the doctoral program at home has become a strategic choice at this stage.

The legal framework for the joint doctoral program was also reviewed within the framework of the decision of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research No. (39) of 2024 AD approving the organizational regulations for the doctoral program in the colleges of science.

The attendees stressed the continuation of working intensively in all departments of earth sciences to prepare scientific programs to the fullest extent in a way that serves society and contributes to the development of scientific research. Dr. Ramadan Al-Jadi, head of the committee supervising doctoral programs, confirmed that the faculties of science in Libyan universities and in all specializations have the potential. Human and scientific matters in implementing the proposed programs in the ten specializations, and that the supervisory committee is in contact with the ministry to provide the capabilities required for each specialization, stressing that the Minister of Higher Education encourages and supports these programs and has directed the provision of modern, fully-fledged scientific halls in each of the five science colleges targeted for the implementation of the program.His Excellency the Minister also issued a decision to send a delegation from the faculties of science to visit the Italian Research Institute for Basic Sciences to establish a partnership in implementing doctoral programs prepared by all disciplines.

The Chairman of the Supervisory Committee confirmed that the priority for providing doctoral programs is to obtain the required laboratories that are not available in any of the targeted colleges, and knowledge of them comes through the unified system of laboratories in the colleges of science.
