Natural sciences are the foundation upon which all civilizational and technological advancements are built. From this perspective, our faculty carries the responsibility of leading scientific research and preparing a generation of researchers capable of exploring nature and understanding its laws for the benefit of humanity.

Description
Faculty of Science - Gharyan was established in the academic year 1992-1993 to serve as a beacon of knowledge and learning in the heart of Gharyan, playing a pivotal role in the development of scientific research and academic education in Libya. Since its establishment, the faculty has focused on offering high-quality academic programs that combine theory and practice, providing a stimulating educational environment for students and researchers to unleash their scientific and innovative potential.
The faculty comprises nine specialized scientific departments: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Zoology, Botany, Geology, Computer Science, Environment and Natural Resources, and Statistics. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs, with an integrated approach combining theoretical courses and practical application in laboratories and fieldwork, contributing to the development of research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Since its inception, the faculty has undergone continuous development in curricula and academic programs, transitioning from an annual system to a semester-based system, and updating academic regulations to align with international standards and best educational practices. Postgraduate programs were introduced, starting with the Botany Department, with future plans to expand graduate studies across other departments, reflecting the faculty’s commitment to sustainable academic and research development.
The Faculty of Science - Gharyan aims to lead in scientific research through advanced projects and partnerships with local, regional, and international research institutions, focusing on providing innovative solutions to societal challenges in education, agriculture, industry, health, and technology. The quality and competence of its graduates reflect the faculty’s position among prestigious academic institutions locally and regionally, with the ambition to achieve global excellence.
