Among the activities of the Geology Department

Participation of the department’s faculty members on Saturday, 3/30/2024, in a field visit to landslides in the farms of Oulad Bou Aicha. This field study was accompanied by:

Dr. Mahmoud Al-Sufi and Professor Naseer Bou Aisha from the Department of Geology at the Faculty of Science, Gharyan, and Dr. Saleh Al-Sadiq from the University of Tripoli, in order to contribute to the interpretation of these subsidences that have caused great damage to farm owners. Field observations also indicated that the ground depressions found in the Awlad Bou Aisha farms appear in the form of a ring, reaching several hundred meters in diameter. They are likely to be the result of the presence of large caves resulting from the erosion of limestone rocks under the surface of the earth.
