World Mathematics Day

The Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Science – Gharyan organized a celebration of World Mathematics Day on Wednesday under the theme “Mathematics and Hope.” The event was held as part of the Department’s engagement with community institutions and its efforts to highlight the role of mathematics in developing solutions that serve the public interest.

The celebration was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, the Head of the Study and Examinations Department, several office directors, the heads of the Faculty’s academic departments, as well as faculty members and students from both the Department and the Faculty.

Representatives from Lamsat Al-Ajeal School for Basic and Secondary Education also attended the event, strengthening the spirit of cooperation and knowledge exchange and providing an opportunity to celebrate the beauty of mathematics and its role in developing students’ creative skills.

The celebration opened with welcoming remarks by the Dean of the Faculty and the Head of the Department of Mathematics, who emphasized the role of mathematics as a tool for optimism, understanding, and innovation.

The program also featured a number of activities presented by female students from the Department, aimed at raising awareness of and appreciation for the importance of mathematics across various fields.

This event is part of the Department’s efforts to expand its impact beyond the academic sphere and create new opportunities for cooperation and partnership with relevant institutions, thereby contributing to community and environmental service.

At the conclusion of the event, the Department presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Lamsat Al-Ajeal School in recognition of its participation in commemorating this occasion. The Department also called for the implementation of future initiatives that highlight the ability of mathematics to address challenges and provide effective solutions.
