Postgraduate studies follow-ups
Research Proposal Discussion Session in the Department of Botany - Faculty of Science Gharyan
Within the framework of the postgraduate program in the Department of Botany at the Faculty of Science Gharyan, a discussion session was held for the research proposals submitted by a number of female students applying for this program. The proposals focused on various topics, including the effects of salt stress, chemical composition, physical properties of some types of soil, and a study of the causes of the disappearance of the saffron plant.
The session was held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, in Hall No. 3 of the College, where the proposals were presented by the researchers as follows:
1. Hanin Fathi Al-Shams - “The effect of soil type on some growth and productivity characteristics of saffron (Crocus sativus)”, Supervised by: Prof. Dr. Jamal Al-Daik.
2. Zainab Mustafa Saleh - “Evaluation of nitrate concentrations in some vegetables in the local market in Gharyan and their potential health risks to the population”, Supervised by: Prof. Dr. Mansour Awidat.
3. Rawida Al-Zaer - “Chemical composition and antibacterial effect of urinary tract infection-causing bacteria”, Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Salam.
4. Nariman Faraj Al-Zawam - “Effect of salt stress on the growth and germination of oats”, Supervisor: Dr. Khalifa Suleiman.
The session was moderated by the Director of the Graduate Studies Department at the College, Dr. Shahoub Al-Ahmar, who supervised the discussion and scientific guidance. The discussion committee also consisted of a group of specialized academics, namely:
