A Touch of Loyalty for the Late Dr. Mohammed Al-Habashi, Allah Willing.
On Monday, March 3, 2025, the Faculty of Science at Gharyan University held a "Touch of Loyalty" memorial in honor of the late Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Habashi, may he rest in peace. He contributed greatly to the fields of science and education, leaving an unforgettable mark on our hearts and minds.
The memorial was attended by the late professor’s family, including his daughter and sons, along with his siblings and relatives. Also present were the university’s president, Dr. Saleh Qashout, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ali Al-Fiqi, the university’s syndicate leader, Dr. Abdulhamid Al-Shaibani, the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Dr. Nasser Aburawi, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Intisar Abdulati, as well as various directors, office heads, faculty members, students, colleagues, and friends of the late professor, some of whom traveled from near and far to take part in this tribute.
The memorial began with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Sheikh Mohammed Fathi Ali, followed by an address by program coordinator Professor Manal Khalifa Hassan, who emphasized that Dr. Mohammed Al-Habashi was an inspiring example of scientific and humanitarian dedication. She stated that knowledge does not fade after its bearer’s passing but remains alive through the ideas and contributions left behind.
Dean of the faculty, Dr. Nasser Aburawi, then delivered a speech highlighting Dr. Al-Habashi’s significant role in developing the faculty and the university, noting his commitment to serving the scientific community.
Further tributes followed, including remarks by University Syndicate Head Dr. Ahmed Al-Sharif, who spoke about the great figures who leave an enduring impact on education, affirming that Dr. Al-Habashi was among those who served knowledge with dedication and sincerity. University President Dr. Saleh Qashout also praised Dr. Al-Habashi’s unwavering commitment and loyalty to his work, stating that his passing is a great loss to the university, but his academic and institutional legacy will remain alive.
A visual presentation of Dr. Al-Habashi’s biography, prepared by Professor Amani Abdulsalam, was shown, allowing attendees to reflect on his key academic and professional milestones.
Further speeches followed, including ones from the Botany Department (Dr. Miftah Al-Kilani), university faculty members (Dr. Abdulraouf Huquq), Faculty of Science staff (Ms. Nagia Al-Said), and a colleague from Sabha University, Dr. Abdelkader Saleh Ali Al-Shaqaqi. Additionally, student representative Rajaa Mansour shared heartfelt words filled with appreciation.
An open forum then allowed friends and colleagues to express their emotions and respect for the late professor. These tributes were deeply emotional, full of tears of friendship and loyalty, reflecting the depth of the personal and academic relationships he had with those around him.
In conclusion, a speech was delivered by Dr. Yassin Al-Habashi, the late professor’s brother, who expressed his gratitude for the attendees' support. His son, Abdulraouf, accepted a loyalty and appreciation shield from the Faculty of Science on behalf of the family as a gesture of gratitude for Dr. Al-Habashi’s great contributions to the academic community.
May Dr. Mohammed Al-Habashi rest in peace, and may his scientific legacy continue to illuminate paths for all.
