In a scientific achievement that adds to the accomplishments of the Faculty of Science - Gharyan, the PhD proposal submitted by faculty member Dr. Abdelnaser Al-Bashir Al-Saghir of the Department of Chemistry was accepted as part of his doctoral studies at the Faculty of Science, University of Misurata on Monday, 16 February 2026. The proposal was accepted with minor revisions following an outstanding academic presentation.

The presentation was well received by the attendees and witnessed a fruitful scientific discussion through interventions and questions that contributed to enriching the research topic and enhancing its scientific aspects.

The proposal falls within the field of Environmental Analytical Chemistry and aims to synthesize new adsorbent materials from locally available resources using multiple methods, characterize them using various analytical techniques and instruments, and evaluate their efficiency in reducing certain chemical pollutants. The study also includes examining adsorption kinetics, isotherm models, and the factors affecting the process, in addition to applying modifications to improve the performance of the adsorbents, studying their reusability, and testing their effectiveness in real samples.
