Scientific Field Visit to the Libyan Advanced Center for Chemical Analysis in Tajoura

As part of the Faculty’s plan to strengthen practical learning and connect academic coursework with real-world applications, the Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Science – Gharyan organized a scientific field visit last Thursday to the Libyan Advanced Center for Chemical Analysis in Tajoura. The visit brought together a group of faculty members and research assistants, along with a number of Faculty students.

The visit featured an intensive and highly productive scientific program. Participants attended a series of valuable scientific lectures delivered by distinguished professors and highly qualified specialists from the Center. The lectures addressed advanced analytical techniques and modern laboratory quality standards, providing our students with a valuable opportunity to bridge the gap between theoretical academic knowledge and practical laboratory applications.

The program also included a comprehensive tour of the Center’s advanced laboratories and facilities, conducted under the supervision and guidance of researchers and chemical engineers working at the Center. They provided detailed explanations of the advanced analytical instruments, their operation, and their use in conducting complex analyses.

It is particularly encouraging to note that the scientific and technical expertise managing this distinguished scientific facility includes a highly qualified and accomplished generation of young Libyan professionals with outstanding academic credentials.

The visit went beyond observation and exploration, as it also included substantive discussions and practical steps toward establishing a framework for future cooperation between the Department of Chemistry and the Faculty of Science as a whole and the Libyan Advanced Center for Chemical Analysis.

Several mechanisms for coordinated cooperation were discussed, including:

  1. Providing the necessary facilities and support for Faculty students working on graduation projects and for researchers to benefit from the Center’s capabilities and resources.
  2. Organizing specialized training courses targeting graduates, technicians, and researchers affiliated with the Faculty of Science, to be delivered by the Center’s qualified staff, with the aim of enhancing the capabilities of national professionals and advancing scientific research.

The Administration of the Faculty of Science and the Department of Chemistry extend their deepest thanks, appreciation, and gratitude to the management of the Libyan Advanced Center for Chemical Analysis, particularly Dr. Abu Bakr Abu Tartour, for the warm and generous welcome extended to our delegation, as well as his strong willingness and wholehearted support for continuing and developing this collaborative partnership. His commitment to providing practical opportunities and facilities that benefit our students and researchers is highly appreciated.

We also extend our sincere thanks to all members of the Center’s scientific, technical, and administrative teams for their outstanding cooperation and welcoming spirit.

This visit reflects the Faculty’s commitment to strengthening practical scientific activities, supporting scientific research, and developing students’ field-training skills. Such initiatives contribute to enhancing the educational process and establishing a meaningful connection between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
