“Academic Writing and Artificial Intelligence: Between Creativity and Academic Integrity”

On Monday, 2 June 2025, the Faculty of Science organized a distinguished discussion session addressing a timely and vital topic that intersects academic writing and artificial intelligence, under the theme:

“Academic Writing and Artificial Intelligence: Between Creativity and Academic Integrity.”

The session began with a welcome speech by Dr. Nasser Aburawi, Dean of the Faculty, followed by remarks from the event organizers from the Departments of Chemistry and Computer Science. The Department of Chemistry was represented by Mr. Tarek Qunidi, and the Department of Computer Science by Ms. Mona Jamoum.

The session featured two specialized lectures:

  • “Academic Characteristics” – presented by Mr. Abdelnasser Al-Saghir, Assistant Professor (Master’s in Chemistry).
  • “Employing Artificial Intelligence in Academic Writing: Balancing Creativity and Responsibility” – delivered by Dr. Intisar Nasr Abdelati, Assistant Professor (PhD in Artificial Intelligence).

The session was attended by a diverse audience, including:

  • Faculty members from the Colleges of Science, Education, and Law and Political Sciences
  • The Head of the Civil Society Commission
  • A number of students

The event concluded with an open discussion rich in scientific contributions, reflecting the participants’ engagement and deep awareness of the importance of this topic amid the digital transformations shaping the academic world.
