World Information Technology Day
As part of the celebration of World Information Technology Day, the Faculty of Science – Gharyan, University of Gharyan, in collaboration with Tech Spark Foundation and the Faculty’s Community and Environmental Service Office, hosted and organized a distinguished scientific and technology-focused event today, Monday, June 1, 2026.
The event brought together a distinguished group of academics and professionals interested in technology and digital transformation, along with students and other participants, through the joint efforts of the organizing team and volunteers.
The event reaffirmed the importance of promoting digital literacy, raising awareness of emerging technologies and their applications, and highlighting key issues and challenges arising from the rapid development of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
The program featured a range of scientific sessions and interactive discussions, including a scientific panel discussion entitled:
“Artificial Intelligence and Recommendation Algorithms: Between Digital Addiction and Cybersecurity.”
The discussion explored the role of artificial intelligence in shaping users’ digital experiences through recommendation algorithms and their impact on digital behavior and patterns of social media use. It also addressed challenges associated with digital addiction and emphasized the importance of cybersecurity in protecting privacy and maintaining digital security.
The Department of Computer Science at the Faculty of Science – Gharyan was represented by:
- Dr. Nasser Ali Aburawi
- Dr. Intisar Nasr Abdelati
They contributed to presenting and enriching the discussion topics, offering an academic perspective that connects artificial intelligence applications with cybersecurity requirements in response to the rapid digital transformations taking place around the world.
